Woodland Merry Land Advent Calendar

A Whole Forest, Bundled Up for Winter

Door one holds a small owl perched and watchful, followed shortly by a bear cradling a wrapped gift, a hedgehog curled beside a sprig of holly, and a raccoon dressed in a full red Santa coat, cap and all. Further along, a fox wears a green scarf, a moose carries a lantern, and a bobcat settles in with its own knit collar. This Woodland Christmas advent calendar treats the forest itself as the holiday setting, letting each animal carry its own small winter scene rather than repeating a single seasonal costume.

Why Forest Animals Ended Up on Christmas Cards at All

Woodland creatures have a longer connection to Christmas than most people realize, and it traces back to British folk tradition rather than any modern marketing invention. Robins and wrens held a specific sacred status in British folklore, tied to old customs around St. Stephen’s Day on December 26th — a reverence that carried directly into the earliest commercial Christmas cards once the format took off in Britain in the 1840s. Forest wildlife more broadly became a recurring holiday motif through that same Victorian card tradition, standing in for the natural, untamed countryside at a time when city dwellers increasingly associated Christmas with a return to rural roots. What’s stuck around since is the gentler half of that legacy — foxes, owls, and rabbits rendered as cozy, approachable characters rather than anything wilder, which is exactly the tone this set leans into.

A Cast Bigger Than the Usual Forest Lineup

Rather than sticking to the expected deer-and-squirrel pairing, the set pulls in animals that rarely show up in holiday decor at all — a badger in a green scarf, a skunk holding a wrapped present, a lynx curled up beside a pinecone. A mouse peeks out from inside a mug, a beaver holds what looks like a small wooden toy, and a wolf sits upright with its scarf loosely knotted, giving the collection real range across both common backyard visitors and less typical woodland residents.

Displaying the Full Collection

This falls under JULIEDIARY’s confirmed advent calendar spec: 24 individually sealed compartments inside a sturdy printed box, opened one per day through December. Each figure is a high-quality acrylic piece with fine painted detail, small enough to hang on a tree branch or arrange along a mantel once the whole set is revealed.

Key Details

The calendar houses 24 individually sealed compartments, each revealing a different acrylic woodland animal in its own winter scene, spanning familiar Christmas figures like a Santa-coated raccoon to less common animals like a badger, skunk, and lynx. It follows JULIEDIARY’s confirmed advent calendar construction, with a printed display box and high-quality acrylic figures built for tree or shelf display.
