Saskatchewan Roughriders Advent Calendar
🏈 Twelve Player Bobbleheads Behind Door One
Twelve miniature player figures anchor this calendar’s roster row, each standing on a black base with a name plate below — Harris, Ouellette, Emilius, K. Johnson, Schaffer-Baker, Milligan Jr., Thurman, M. Johnson, Campbell, Reavis, Lauther, and Stevens — all styled with the same rounded, chibi-proportioned faces and green-and-white kits. Below them, twelve more charms round out the full 24: a helmet, a scarf, a toque, a jersey, a whistle, a trophy stamped “CFL,” and a small figure of the team’s mascot wearing jersey number 13.
🐿️ The Gopher Behind the Number
That mascot figure represents Gainer the Gopher, who first scampered onto the field in 1977 when a local TV reporter agreed to put on a homemade rodent costume for a Roughriders game. His name is an anagram of Regina, and despite the nickname, he’s actually modeled on a Richardson’s ground squirrel rather than a true gopher. Gainer picked up jersey number 13 in 2006 as a nod to serving as the team’s unofficial thirteenth man on the field, the same number printed on the mascot charm tucked among this Saskatchewan Roughriders advent calendar‘s other pieces.
🏟️ A Stadium Name Worth Knowing
The building pictured on the box, Mosaic Stadium, replaced the team’s longtime home Taylor Field in 2017 after more than eighty years there, but the franchise itself goes back even further — founded in 1910 as the Regina Rugby Club, making it one of the oldest continuously operating professional football teams anywhere in North America. That history is part of why the fanbase carries its own name, Rider Nation, rather than a generic “fans” label — a level of identity most CFL teams don’t have.
📦 A Different Kind of Product Entirely
This is a boxed advent calendar rather than a wearable item, built around 24 individually wrapped miniature charms revealed one per day leading into the holidays — no fit, fabric, or sizing involved. Each door opens onto a different collectible piece rather than food or a repeated design, so the format works more like a small figure collection unlocked over the course of a month.
🔑 Key Details
This Saskatchewan Roughriders advent calendar holds 24 unique mini charms behind individually numbered doors, including twelve named player figures, the Gainer the Gopher mascot, and stadium- and gear-themed pieces in the team’s green and white colors. As a non-apparel collectible, it follows standard advent calendar construction rather than any clothing sizing or fit. Built around a franchise with more than a century of history and a fanbase known specifically as Rider Nation, it’s made for fans counting down the days with something more specific than a generic team logo.
