LIZZIE BORDEN “1860-1927” T-shirt

A Portrait Framed Like a Memorial Card

An oil-toned photograph of Lizzie Borden sits inside an ornate red-and-black frame on the front, her name lettered above in a Gothic banner and her birth-death years, 1860 to 1927, printed below. Borden became one of the most enduring names in American criminal history after her father and stepmother were found hacked to death in their Fall River, Massachusetts home on August 4, 1892. She was tried and acquitted of the murders the following year, but the case, and the folk rhyme that grew out of it, has stayed in public memory for over 130 years regardless of the verdict. This Lizzie Borden t-shirt treats her as a historical figure worth a formal portrait rather than a cartoon villain.

The Back Panel Plays Like Evidence Photos

Turn it over and the graphic shifts tone entirely: a grid of black-and-white images resembling period photography and crime-scene-adjacent objects — a hatchet, a skull, and other case-related imagery — sits above four lines of the well-known 19th-century folk rhyme that’s followed Borden’s name since shortly after the trial itself: “Lizzie Borden took an ax…” The verse is public domain, predating any modern copyright by over a century, and the shirt uses it the way it’s been used in true-crime and pop-culture references for generations. “Morbid Empire Merchandise” prints below in small type, identifying the source line this design belongs to.

Sleeve Detail and Print Placement

A small “XIII” appears printed along the left sleeve — thirteen carrying an obvious dark-history nod given the subject matter — while “Morbid Merch” sits on the opposite sleeve near the shoulder seam, both kept small enough not to compete with the front chest portrait.

Material and Fit

Per Julie Diary’s confirmed t-shirt specification, this is a 35% cotton, 65% polyester blend with taped neck and shoulder seams and a tubular rib collar for shape retention. Printing the black-and-white photographic detailing on both panels holds up sharp rather than looking faded or grainy. Wash cold, use non-chlorine bleach only if needed, and hang dry or dry clean with a cool iron on the reverse; expect ±1–3cm sizing variance and slight color shift depending on screen calibration when ordering.

Who This One’s For

This suits anyone building out a true-crime or dark-history wardrobe rather than casual horror-movie merch — the framed portrait styling reads closer to a memorial or wanted-poster aesthetic than a slasher-film graphic, which sets it apart from more theatrical horror tees.

Key Details

This Lizzie Borden t-shirt features a front-chest framed portrait with her 1860–1927 birth and death years, a back-panel photo grid paired with the public-domain 19th-century folk rhyme associated with her 1892 murder trial, and small sleeve prints reading “XIII” and “Morbid Merch.” It follows Julie Diary’s standard t-shirt construction: a 35% cotton/65% polyester blend with taped seams, a tubular rib collar, machine washable cold with a cool iron on reverse.
